Drivel Auto-Save
For every post I post, fifteen get deleted out of sheer neuroses; the irony here is that this pittance of a post makes the cut.

Make class optional in light of debate-circus-campus as I understand parking is terrible already and worse now. 7 and 3 students show up and get writerly advice. I think we all won. Except those students who can’t write well for the course, can’t admit this to themselves, and didn’t come.

Florida and Jacksonville continue to hold down the bottom of the barrel as far as bike/pedestrian safety.
What safety.
Velocity coming to Jax →
Don’t know how this went under my radar, but Velocity (rims) are in the middle of relocating their Australia shop to Jacksonville, at a location yet named (or that I’ve found). Pretty awesome.

A little less H&M
A little more S&M.
I bought a sweater on discount at H&M Orlando a few weeks ago, and when I arrived home I realized that the counter clerk hadn’t removed its anti-theft sensor. As I’ve found out since, this kind of thing is commonplace at H&M, so much so that the company has a stock form for such occasions.
Uh, a ring-ring:
“Oh, were you [one of the one-in-four]...

That moment you realize you’ve confused your caffeine high with happiness. Succeeded by that moment you realize you don’t care. Still feels good.

Day two
And it’s a much better class. Thank God for second chances.
Descendants/Descendents
When she says she wants to see the Descendants, she means
When she says, “Do you want to see the Descendants tonight,” I of course think she means:
Ugh, English language; why do you continue to betray me?
Everything I had planned to do today is being held up by Invictus. Don’t know why, but I just can’t stop watching. Kind of like when Shawshank Redemption comes on TNT, but they have commercials and I can get away.

Disney Marathon
Things I learned from today’s marathon (as mediated through a Tylenol III medicated state):
1. Most obviously, I can finish a marathon;
2. Despite #1, or maybe just in knowing #1, I will likely not run another marathon for a long while to come;
3. When the brochure makes the race look fun and exciting, be suspicious; it’s a marathon, and it hurts; and as fun as the ads make it look,...

The Harvard School of Public Health sent a strong message to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and nutrition experts everywhere with the recent release of its “Healthy Eating Plate” food guide. The university was responding to the USDA’s new MyPlate guide for healthy eating, which replaced the outdated and misguided food pyramid.
Harvard’s nutrition experts did...
Disney f/u
Also: thanks to everyone for more Disney suggestions.
Running list now includes: The Beast, Gaston, Goofy, Prince Eric, and accordion guy from Lady and the Tramp.
I’m leaning towards Goofy because assembling a costume just seems so easy and because I’m more the classic Disney characters kind of person, anyway; still, other ideas?
Impulse Amazon Buy
Purchase at 4:00pm Wednesday. It leaves from a distribution center in Louisville at 4:25am the next day and is in Jacksonville, FL, at 6:45am and out for delivery at 7:30.
That kind of quickness just blows my mind.
Advice/help needed
Disney Marathon this Sunday. Would like to dress up in Disney costume.
Any suggestions for outfits that are a) easy, b) exclude masks (verbotten), and c) fits your idea of me.
So far, I have Goofy and Gaston (from Beauty and the Beast). Others?

New Year's Eve/Day
I really enjoy the idea of the new year and its metaphorical associations to rebirth and second chances, I do. However, the following have bereft me of any sustainable New Year’s goodwill and positive energy:
spending every day at the hospital visiting my mom;
succumbing to the anxiety and medical uncertainties that attend the above;
minding my pseudo-invalid 26-year-old brother and...
Holy Black Unicorn
Grant is in town. Time to indulge and be seasonly opulent. Despite the untimely sadness that has come to punctuate my life in the past few weeks, I know I should enjoy the season. My mom would like that.

I just got an email from a student saying “I saw my grade and it’s an F, does that mean I didn’t pass?”
I … I just … all of a sudden, my student questions don’t seem so bad.
Clearly, this student did just Fine in that class.
